A Much Needed Break

A Much Needed Break

Marisol Muro|

I’m sure you’ve heard plenty of times, the difficulties of running a business by yourself, so I will spare you the details. It’s basically work that’s never done. It was 2020, about a week before the pandemic shut down. I had just returned from a London vacation. Not knowing it would be my last for a very long time. Since then I worked all week, day and night. Because if you turn your passion into your career, it’s kind of difficult to stop. And mix that with a very strong work ethic to succeed, well that’s a recipe for burnout. In the year 2024, my personal life was really struggling. I desperately needed a reset or a change of some sort, anything lol. The thought of putting my business that needs me 7 days a week, on hold was terrifying. It’s my income after all. And not just for me, it’s for the future of Marisoland. I also had never taken a social media break since the beginnings of social media lol. It felt very overwhelming, but you know? What’s the point of working so hard if you can’t enjoy the fruits of your labor? If it all comes crashing down in my absence, then it wasn’t meant to be. Because this lady needs a break ;)

So here we are in 2025, did I take a break? I most certainly did. Basically a 2 month break. One month abroad, and one month at home recovering hehe. It honestly was a struggle getting back to it. It felt almost impossible. Burnout is really wild like that. But here I am, trucking along with my first blog post since 2020 lol. What has helped me a lot, is giving myself projects that aren’t work related. Like getting back to my old hobbies and not over doing it! (That exclamation is for me). I made some silly crafts with objects I found during my travels, upscaled clothing, played with clay, restored vintage items, etc etc. Doing these activities started inspiring me to pick up my sketchbook again. This experience has taught me to better care for myself, and that means a lifestyle change. It’s definitely a work in progress, but I do know I need to put out less work, and pour back into me. There’s probably about a thousand pieces of my work floating around the internet, my portfolio can slow down lol.

I wanted to share some photos of my travels abroad. It was a vacation I will never forget.

The Tarot Garden had been on my dream wish list for a very long time! It’s located in Pescia Florentina, Italy.

The seaside villages of Cinque Terre, oh my gosh, I was over the moon! I can see why artists are inspired by this gorgeous place.

In France, I attended not one, but two parties at the palace of Versailles! It took me a little over a month to make my dress. It was a challenge, but it came together magnificently.

Okay, so Switzerland is actually as beautiful as they say it is. Travelled all across the country on trains, and everywhere was just as beautiful as the next. I finally visited the Matterhorn!

There’s lots of adventure to be had in the mountains. Here’s a little taste of a not photoshopped picture of me, going down a slide lol.

It’s really nice to see people out in the parks, really enjoying the calm. In Paris, you can see people leisurely take breaks at parks every day of the week. Parc des Buttes Chaumont, was one of the few parks I visited. Isn’t it so beautiful?!

Whenever I had gone on trips abroad, I’m often asked, “How do you even plan that out?” Little by little, and thankfully these days almost every resource is online. You don’t fully know what you’re doing, because you’ve never been there! You just gotta go :)

Thanks for reading this far 🩷 See ya next time.

xx,

‘Marisol
